Corby is a town with a proud industrial heritage. As an important centre of the national steel industry, Corby workers produced many important commodities, including steel pipes for the top secret pipeline which sent fuel to allied forces in Europe during the Second World War. But by the end of 1981, large scale closures meant the industry had all but disappeared from the town.
